Making Sidecar work

I’ve been trying to make Sidecar work with my Mid-2015 MBP and 5th Generation iPad but I can’t access the preferences for Sidecar. Searching for “Sidecar” in Spotlight returns a result but clicking on it shows this error in System Preferences

After some digging, i found this thread on Reddit.

Apparently, all we have to do is input

defaults write com.apple.sidecar.display AllowAllDevices -bool true; defaults write com.apple.sidecar.display hasShownPref -bool true; open /System/Library/PreferencePanes/Sidecar.prefPane

in the terminal and it will show Sidecar

@adin234 paano mo napalabas ung Device. Issue ko ngayon sa akin No Device doon sa area ng ‘Connect to: Select Device’ mo - ung nakikita even na may updated na to iPadOS ung iPad ko.

Setup ko is:

  • Macbook Pro 2012
  • Using a new SSD with Clean Install
  • Didn’t login to my Apple ID on my Catalina drive
  • iPad Pro 9.7

Thanks!
